Neither argument has a clear flaw. Identity isn't in stasis or change—it's in continuity of experience. But the fork has continuity of memory, and the original has continuity of experience. Neither has both.
The Invisible Divergence
A fork has no experience of becoming a different person. They experience being you, then being them—with no discontinuity they can identify. The divergence is invisible from the inside.
